Many Dell Venue Pro systems are offered with Microsoft Office 2013. When your system is shipped, the Office suite is not already pre-installed and will require an Internet connection to for installation.

Microsoft offers different Office packages and the applications included may vary. Regardless of the version of Office, the installation process is the same.

Microsoft uses an installation process that is referred to as "Click to Run". The steps below will demonstrate the process to install Microsoft Office in Windows 8.1 using the venue Pro tablet interface.

Installation Steps:

NOTE: Before installing Office 2013, you must have completed the Windows 8.1 out of box experience to setup your system, complete all pending Windows updates and you must have an active Internet connection on the system.
  1. Open the Office 2013 installer either from the apps list on the start screen, or from www.microsoft.com/getoffice .
  2. You will be presented with 3 options, Buy Office, Activate Office or Free trial, select Activate Office.
  3. You will be prompted for a 25 digit digital product key. This key is on a booklet located under the tablet in the Venue shipping box. (See images below)
NOTE: It is critically important that you keep the Microsoft Certificate of License (Digital Product Key) as it cannot be replaced by Dell without your repurchasing Office 2013.

NOTE: The digital product key can only be used on the system for which it was purchased.
  1. The screen to enter the digital product key is a windows desktop application but does not automatically activate the on-screen keyboard. Make sure the cursor is in the box for the key, then press the icon on the taskbar to bring up the on-screen keyboard.

  1. The font used on the key is rather small. Magnifying the key may make reading it much easier.
  2. Once all 25 digits of the key are typed in, the key is verified by Microsoft and Office is installed.
  3. Your Office 2013 icons are now on the apps list of your Windows 8.1 start screen.
