I Am Unable To Burn a DVD That has Copyright Protection
You can open, edit, copy and burn un-encrypted DVD discs that were made using any of the OpenDVD compliant applications like Sonic MyDVD, Sonic DVDit! Or by using supported set top DVD recorders.
However, none of the products mentioned above contain software that will allow the user to circumvent the operation of encryption-which would be a violation of copyright law. By way of background, encryption controls are made when the DVD is produced and are the prerogative of the music companies and artists to limit the unauthorized reproduction and distribution of copyrighted material.
While Dell and Sonic do not support or advocate the violation of copyright or other laws by our customers, we do believe that consumers should be aware of the copy limitations imposed by encrypted DVDs before purchase. To promote a better experience for our multimedia customers, we are working with the music industry on a labeling standard that both informs consumers of reproduction limitations on DVDs and CDs and identifies the technical platforms with which the content is compatible.
Because reproducing copyrighted materials is in violation of the law and could subject users to substantial fines as well as civil or criminal liability, it is recommended that you contact your legal advisor or the music or movie label if you are at all uncertain about your rights.
