M1000e Power Consumption Number Does Not Scale with Efficiency
This article provides information on M1000e power consumption number does not scale with efficiency.
Problem: On a PowerEdge M1000e™ the AC blade consumption displayed on the GUI doesn’t take into account more efficient PSU modes afforded by the Dynamic Power Supply Engagement (DPSE) power optimization function.
Discussion: Chassis Management Controller (CMC) GUI power readings use fixed conversion efficiency, 85.3%, while a dynamic efficiency is calculated and delivered to iDRAC for power plotting that varies between 73.2% and 91.2%. The GUI readings don’t take DPSE efficiencies into account.
Do not replace hardware. The value of GUI scaling is modest for the user.
