How to enable error reporting disabled by Group policy?

Users may notice a problem while experiencing blue screen error on their system but the system has error reporting completely disabled through the Group Policy of their IT administrator. By default, error reporting for application and system errors is enabled on clients running Windows. If error reporting has been disabled via Group Policy, then a system will not record any minidumps for analysis. The following link from Microsoft pertains to Windows XP, Windows Error Reporting and Group Policy Settings - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490841.aspx . It can be used as a reference for your customer’s IT administrator if they decide to allow Windows Error Reporting on the system in question.

Another way to verify if Windows Error Reporting has been enabled or disabled on a system running Windows XP is to check the advanced system properties using the process listed below.

1. Open the Control Panel.

2. Open the "System Properties" box by double clicking on the "System" icon.

3. Navigate to the "Advanced" tab.

4. Click on the button for "Error Reporting".

5. Verify the status for error reporting on this system.
