Issue: Projectors and TV’s used with Dell E-series Latitude systems may flicker or come up blank

Users may notice that the screen is flickering or may come up blank when attempting to use a projector on the VGA port of an E series Latitude. Follow the below steps to resolve the problem. If these steps do not fix the issue, call Dell Technical Support.

  • Make sure no extenders or dongles are used. If a dongle must be used, attempt to swap out with another dongle, if available.
  • Test with a 6’-10’ or less VGA cable if possible. Longer VGA cables have trouble carrying the signal with integrated video.
  • Clear startup and non Microsoft services from MSCONFIG and try again. Certain software or services can grab the VGA port.
  • Test using an LCD monitor instead of the projector\TV. This will help rule out the VGA port.
