The Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 installation may fail when a native device driver is used. - KB Article - 131727

Install the device driver from the reinstallation media.

During installation, Windows Server 2003 presents an option for installing device drivers for removable media such as SCSI and IDE hard drive controllers. When attempting to install these drivers, Windows Server 2003 may indicate that it already has a driver for a given device. If this native driver is installed, the OS installation may fail.

To avoid this problem, install the device driver from the device media, regardless of the messages from Windows Server 2003.

For more information on downloading a driver, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article 54E5E852F5A5407E87CE90FBA5E59F56, "How do I download a file, utility, or driver from Dell''s support website?"

In the case that a third party SCSI or IDE hard drive controller is being used, refer to the original manufacturer''s website for the latest version of the device driver.
