Dell Express Flash™ PCIe SSDs Do Not Support the TRIM Command
This article provides information on Express Flash PCIE SSD support for the TRIM command.
A TRIM command allows an operating system to inform a solid-state drive (SSD) which blocks of data are no longer considered in use and can be wiped internally.
As the title states, Express Flash PCIe SSD's do not support the TRIM command. Express Flash devices have a built in "garbage collection function" and do not require explicit function calls by the operating system to release storage blocks. This is actually a better implementation than the TRIM command as the Express Flash logic can perform garbage collection during idle periods without the operating system needing to take action.
There are no plans to add the TRIM command to Express Flash devices.
