A user may report they do not receive video on an external monitor when connected to a D/dock with a Matrox G450 PCI video card installed. This issue only occurs with the D-series Latitude systems with the Matrox G450 PCI card installed in the D/Dock

2. Resolution

The Matrox video card will have to be enabled in the BIOS and in the Display Properties of Windows.

To enable the video card in the BIOS:

  1. Restart the system.:

  2. Press F2 when you see the Dell Splash screen to access the BIOS.:

  3. Navigate to the Video tab and click on the plus sign to expand the fields.:

  4. Navigate to Primary Video and select Dock Video Card.:

  5. Press Esc to exit the BIOS and save changes.:

  6. The system should now restart and load windows as normal.:


Once Windows has loaded, a notification window will appear stating Windows has found a new display adapter. Load the Matrox video card drivers at this point, these can be downloaded from the Matrox here.

Once the drivers have been installed, make sure the card is enabled.

  • Navigate to Start and Control Panel.
  • Navigate to Display Properties and make sure the Matrox Video card is enabled.
  • Restart your system.

Once Windows restarts, you will get display on both the LCD and the external monitor connected through the Matrox card.
