How to run Dell Factory Image Restore in Windows Vista from the Dell Recovery DVD
If the Advanced Boot Options menu won’t open when you restart your computer, you can use the Dell Recovery DVD that came with your computer to run Dell Factory Image Restore.
Caution:Dell Factory Image Restore deletes all data on the hard drive and removes any programs or drivers installed after you received your computer. If possible, back up all data before using this option. Use Dell Factory Image Restore only if System Restore did not resolve your operating system problem.
To run Dell Factory Image Restore from the Dell Recovery DVD
Insertthe Dell Recovery DVD.
Click thearrownext to theLock button, and then clickRestart.
If prompted, pressany keyto start Windows from the installation disc.
Choose your language settings, and then clickNext.
ClickRepair your computer.
Select the operating system you want to repair, and then clickNext.
On theSystem Recovery Optionsmenu, clickCommand Prompt.
TypePCRestoreand press theENTERkey. TheDell Factory Image Restorewindow will appear.
ClickNext.TheConfirm Data Deletionscreen appears.
Select thecheck boxto confirm that you want to continue reformatting the hard drive and restore the system software to factory condition, then clickNext. The restore begins and a message appears when the operating system and factory-installed applications have been restored to factory condition.
ClickFinishto restart your computer.
