Why does the Iomega One-Step Backup attempt to connect to my Kodak DC210 camera? - Technical Tip - 167066

This is functioning as designed because, the Kodak software sets the DC210 as a "virtual" drive and the Iomega One-Step Backup scans all drives to see what files are on them.

Your system is functioning as intended, and this is not a problem. If your camera is attached and in the connect mode, the One-Step Backup will read the files (pictures) on the camera and then allow you to continue with your backup.

You have the Kodak DC210 software installed.

This happens when you choose to customize your backup and go to the "File Selection" tab and you have the Kodak DC210 software installed. The Kodak software sets the DC210 as a "virtual" disk drive and the "File Selection" portion of the Iomega One-Step Backup scans all drives to see what files are on them. This scan causes the system to attempt communication to the camera, and once it detects that the camera is not attached, it will allow you to continue with your backup. If your camera is attached and in the connect mode, the One-Step Backup will read the files (pictures) on the camera and then allow you to continue with your backup.
