What is OLE for Point-of-Sale (OPOS)? - Technical Tip - 132010

OLE for Point-Of-Sale (POS)

Initially, the various brands of Point-of-Sale (POS) peripherals each had their own proprietary programming languages. When POS software became more prominent in the Microsoft® Windows® operating system, though, there became a need for a programming language standard. Consequently, the OPOS standard was created through the combined efforts of Microsoft, NCR, Epson, and Fujitsu-ICL.
