Shutdown Options Before Installation
After you install SP2, by default, updates are installed every time you shut down your computer.
When you click Shut Down, if the updates are downloaded and ready to install, a new option may appear. Depending on the Windows XP setting, you either get a Turn Off Computer screen or a Shut Down Windows screen.
Turn Off Computer
If the Turn off computer dialog box appears, it displays a new security shield icon that gives you the option to update and turn off your computer.

It is best to install updates when you shut down your computer. However, the installation can take several minutes to complete, so the Click here to turn off without installing updates option allows you to shut down the system immediately. |
Shut Down Windows
If the Shut Down Windows dialog box appears, it includes the default drop-down option to Install important updates and shut down.On the other hand, if you have configured Windows Update to Download but choose when to install, you will be prompted if you want to automatically install them on the next reboot.
