Changing the IP Address of a Dell PowerConnect 3024 or 5012 Switch

Summary: Steps to configure the switch IP using Terminal Services and also the Web Browser

Symptoms

Configure the Switch IP Address Using Terminal Services
 

To configure the IP address of the switch, perfom the following steps:

  1. Connect to the switch. 
    For more information on connecting to your switch, refer to the Dell KB Article: "How to Attach or Connect to a Dell PowerConnect 3024, 3048, 5012, or 5224 Switch"​ 
  2. From the main menu, select IP Settings.
     
  3. Highlight the existing IP address.
     
  4. Type the new IP address and select Yes to save it to NVRAM. 
    The change in address will not occur until the next reboot.

     


 

Configure the IP Address using the Web Browser
 

Configure the IP address of the swich by performing the following steps:

  1. Connect to the switch using your web browser. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. 
    For more information on connecting to your switch, refer to the Dell KB Article: "How to Attach or Connect to a Dell PowerConnect 3024, 3048, 5012, or 5224 Switch"​   
  2. Click System Manager and select IP Settings from the submenu.
     
  3. Type the new IP address and click Apply to save it.
    The change will not take effect until after the next reboot.

The Dell PowerConnect 3024 and Dell PowerConnect 5012 are managed switches. These switches have a programmable IPaddress for management functions.
