Why the Venue 8 Pro screen dims automatically when a Targus SafePort Rugged Mac Pro case or other custom case is installed blocking the ambient light sensor (ALS)

This article provides information on "Why the Venue 8 Pro screen dims automatically when a Targus SafePort Rugged Mac Pro case or other custom case is installed blocking the ambient light sensor (ALS)".

LCD screen is dim when Targus SafePort Rugged Max case is installed

You may encounter a situation where the LCD screen is dim after installation of a Targus SafePort Rugged Max Pro case.

Case covers the ambient light sensor

Research has indicated that the bezel design of the Targus SafePort Rugged Max Pro Case covers (an other custom covers) the ambient light sensor making the system think it is being used in a very dark environment.

Disabling the ambient light sensor or removing the case restores the LCD brightness.

The workaround for this is to disable the ambient light sensor.

NOTE: Disabling the ambient light sensor may reduce the battery life of your computer system.
