Connect the W5300n Printer Directly to the Network

1. Verify that the printer is turned off and is unplugged from any power sources.

2. Connect a Category 5 (CAT5) network cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the printer (Figure 1).

NOTE:

The printer will automatically adjust for the network speed.

3. Connect the power cable to the printer and to a grounded outlet.

4. Power the printer on.
   After the printer completes its internal test, the Ready/Data light appears.

Print the Network Setup Page on the W5300n Printer and Check the Network Settings

1. After the Ready/Data light has stopped blinking, press and release the Continue button to print the Menu Settings and Network Setup pages.

2. Under the Standard Network Card heading on the Network Setup page, ensure that the Status is listed as Connected.

3. Locate the IP address located under the TCP/IP heading. If the IP address equals 0.0.0.0, wait a few minutes and print the Network Setup page again.

Configure the Print Queue for the W5300n Printer

1. Click the Start button.

2. Click the Run button.
   The Run window appears.

3. In the Open: box, type the following text:
   X:\setup.exe
   where X is the letter of your CD drive.

4. Click Install the printer on the network.
   The Dell W5300n Laser Printer Installation window appears.

5. Click the Next button.

6. Click the server or system name that will share the printer with other computers.

7. Click the Next button.

8. Click to select Install the software and Install the User's Guide on the server.

9. Click the Next button.

10. Click to select Share the printer on this server.

11. Create a share name you want to use for the PCL driver and PostScript driver.

NOTE:

Make the share name obvious so the clients can easily find the printer when browsing for shared printers.

12. Click the Next button.

13. Verify that Choose an existing port for the printer connection is selected.

14. Select the port that corresponds to the hardware port selected when the printer was connected to the server.

15. Specify a port name.

16. Type in the printer IP address.

17. Click the Finish button.

18. Print a test page to ensure that the software is correctly installed.

19. Click the Finish button to exit.

Install the W5300n Network Printer Drivers for All Clients

1. Click the Start button.

2. Click Printers and Faxes.
   The Printers and Faxes window appears.

3. Click to highlight the W5300n printer listing.

4. Click File.

5. Click Sharing.
   The Dell W5300n Laser Printer Properties window appears.

6. Click the Sharing tab.

7. Click to select Share this printer.

8. In the Share name: box, enter the name of the share if one does not appear.

9. Click the Additional Drivers button.
   The Additional Drivers window appears.

10. Select the operating systems of all network clients printing to this printer.

11. Click the OK button.

12. Click the Apply button.

13. Click the OK button.
