No video or a black screen is displayed after your computer wakes up from sleep, hibernate, and so on (intermittent no video or black screen).

  1. Push any OSD or power button, or AC power cycle to recover.
  2. To further avoid this problem, disable Monitor Sleep from the OSD (Go to Menu, then Energy, then Monitor Sleep, and then Disable) (Figure 2).
  3. Power the display off, then back on to recover the problem.

No Image is Displayed - Black Screen, and the LED is On

No image is displayed when using a DisplayPort (DP) connection to the computer.

  1. Connect the DisplayPort cable to the correct DisplayPort on the display. It is possible to misconnect to the DisplayPort output for a Multi-Stream Transport (MST) capable monitor (Figure 3).

  1. Verify which DisplayPort (DP) standard (DP 1.1a or DP 1.2) that your graphics card certified to use. Download and install the latest graphics card driver. To download and install a driver, reference How to Download and Install Dell Drivers.
  2. Some DP 1.1a graphics cards cannot support DP 1.2 monitor configurations. Use the OSD menu to change the DisplayPort settings. Under Input Source selection, press and hold the DP select √ key for 8 seconds to change the monitor setting from DP 1.2 to DP 1.1a.

No Video, and the LED is White

No input signal is detected when the user controls are pressed.

If HDMI 2.0 is the issue, change the HDMI configuration in the UP2516D or UP2716D on-screen display (OSD).

  1. Connect the DisplayPort cable to the correct DisplayPort of the display. It is possible to misconnect to the DisplayPort output for a Multi-Stream Transport (MST) capable monitor.
  2. Either verify that the correct input source on the on-screen display menu is set to what you want, or set the input source to Auto select (Figure 4).
  3. Check the signal source. Ensure that the computer is not in the power-saving mode by moving the mouse or pressing any key on the keyboard.

No Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Function Connecting a Second Display

You cannot configure a second display using Multi-Stream Transport (MST).

  1. Your graphics card must be certified for DP 1.2 with the Multi-Stream Transport (MST) option to use this feature.
  2. Verify that the picture-in-picture/picture-by-picture (PIP/PBP) mode is off. The PIP/PBP feature disables the DP MST function when used.
  3. Verify that the MST function is On in the monitor on-screen display (OSD) menu (Figure 5).

Cannot Detect USB Connection When Both USB Upstream Ports Are Connected

This monitor comes with two USB upstream ports to allow switching between devices connected using USB. Devices that are connected using USB do not work if the wrong USB upstream source is selected from the OSD menu.

Note: When only one USB upstream port is connected, no action is needed as the monitor will automatically select the single active USB source.

When both USB upstream ports are connected, ensure that the right USB input source is selected.

Caution: To prevent data damage or loss, before changing USB upstream ports, verify that no USB storage devices are in use by the computer to the monitor's USB upstream port.

To switch the USB upstream port:

  1. Go to the monitor menu (OSD).
  2. Select USB Selection (Figure 6).
  3. Select USB1 or USB2, depending on your preference.

No Video When Using DisplayPort (DP) Connection on Windows or Mac

You may encounter a situation where the power LED is on, but there is no video from the screen.

This monitor supports both DP 1.1 and DP 1.2. The default setting is DP 1.2. If your graphics adapter or graphics driver does not support DP 1.2, the monitor may display no video. Use the no video troubleshooting steps listed below:

Verify if the graphics card is certified for DP 1.1a or DP 1.2 and download and install the latest graphics drivers.

If your graphics card cannot support DP 1.2, switch monitor DisplayPort settings to DP 1.1.

  1. Go to the monitor on-screen display (OSD) menu.
  2. Select Input Source and then either DP or mDP (depending on your connection).
  3. Press and hold the Confirm button for approximately eight seconds.
  4. When the DP 1.2 message box appears, select Disable.
