This video shows how to replace the M 0.2 2230 solid state drive or SSD with an M 0.2 2280 SSD on an Inspiron 14 5425. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data.
Before removing the M 0.2 2230 SSD power off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals and ensure that you always use est protection when working inside the computer to begin loosen the two captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm resting keyboard assembly.
Then remove the five screws that secure the base cover to the palm resting keyboard assembly using a plastic scribe pry the base cover from the top left of the hinge and then continue to work on the sides to open the base cover, slide and lift the base cover off the palm resting keyboard assembly.
Now disconnect the battery cable from the system board, then turn the computer over and open the display press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the computer and drain the flea power, turn over the computer to locate the M 2 2230 SSD, remove the screw that secures the M 0.2 mounting bracket to the Palmers and keyboard assembly slide.
The M 0.2 2230 SSD out of the SSD slot and lift it from the system board. Now let's install the M 2 2280 SSD. Locate the notch on the SSD, then align the notch with a tab on the SSD slot, slide the SSD into the slot on the system board.
Now replace the screw that secures the M 2, 2280 SSD to the palm resting keyboard assembly, connect the battery cable to the system board, then place and snap the face cover into place on the palm resting keyboard assembly, tighten the two captive screws, then replace the five screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
