Fixes & Enhancements
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 4.3 OF DELL OPENMANAGE SERVER ADMINISTRATOR?
* Added support for the Dell PowerEdge(TM) 1855, 6800 and 6850 systems.
* Leveraged native install technologies for each operating system for Server Administrator installs. For Windows, the Windows Installer Microsoft Software Installation (MSI) package file (.msi) is used.
* Updated Active Directory Snap-In Utility
* Added default installation support for Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Storage Management Service under Microsoft(R) Windows(R) and Red Hat(R) Enterprise Linux.
This release provides an enhanced Storage Management Service. The enhanced Storage Management Service provides the same storage management and configuration functions as Array Manager. Unlike Array Manager, however, the enhanced Storage Management Service features are accessible from the Server Administrator graphical and command line interfaces.
Note: Product documentation for the enhanced Storage Management Service is provided as online help. The online help refers to this service as "Dell OpenManage Storage Management" and as "Storage Management".
The enhanced Storage Management Service:
* Enables you to view the status of local and remote storage attached to a monitored system.
* Allows you to perform controller and enclosure functions for all supported RAID and non-RAID controllers and enclosures from a single graphical or command line interface without the use of the controller BIOS utilities.
* Protects your data by configuring data redundancy, assigning hot spares, or rebuilding failed drives.
* Provides a graphical interface that is wizard-driven with features for novice and advanced users and a detailed online help.
* Provides a fully-featured and scriptable command line interface.
* Supports SCSI, SATA, and ATA. Does not support Fibre Channel.
NOTE: This release of the enhanced Storage Management Service does not provide Microsoft(R) Windows volume and disk management or Novell NetWare support. In addition, fibre channel is not supported.
Note: For more information on the basic and enhanced Storage Management Service and their relationship to Array Manager, see the Server Administrator User's Guide.
* Implement lifecycle management -- allows upgrade from Systems Management CD version 3.0 and later only.
* For a complete list of fixes/enhancements, refer to the README file, readme1st.txt
