Managed Node for Linux, or OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA), is a comprehensive systems management tool for PowerEdge servers. It provides easy-to-use management and administration of local and remote systems through a set of integrated mangement services. OMSA resides solely on the system being managed and is accessible both locally and remotely. Services and Features: * Instrumentation Service - provides rapid access to detailed fault and performance information * Basic Storage Management Service - provides RAID and external SCSI enclosure information via the Array Manager agent * Enhanced Storage Management Service - provides additional features for configuring storage RAID and external SCSI enclosure information via the OpenManage Storage Services agent * Diagnostic Service - provides a suite of programs that can diagnose problems on individual systems * Logs - displays logs of commands issued to or by the system, monitored hardware events, POST events, and system alerts " "* This release of Server Administrator provides support for Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology. SAS technology offers improved scalability for your storage environment by providing increased bandwidth and capacity to manage more storage enclosures and physical disks than is possible with SCSI.

This includes PE1800, PE1855, PE1855MC, PE2800, PE2850, PE6800, and PE6850. * Added support for SUSE(tm) LINUX Enterprise Server (version 9) SP3 on Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) systems. * Added support for the following RAID cards: PERC 5/i Adapter, PERC 5/i Integrated, SAS 5/E Adapter, SAS 5/i Integrated, SAS 5/iR Adapter, and SAS 5/iR Integrated. * Added support for the following Dell PowerEdge systems: 1950, 1955, 2900, and 2950. * Added support for Dell Remote Access Controller (DRAC) 5 * Added support for Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0. * Removed support for the following Dell PowerEdge systems: x4xx and x5xx. * Removed support for Array Manager.

* Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Storage Management may generate an incorrect “battery replacement†message in the system event log and the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Alert log during initialization on the Dell PowerEdge 1850, 1950, 2850, 2900, 2950, 6800 and 6850 systems with a PERC 5/I or PERC 5/e controller. Depending on system configuration, the following battery replacement alert-- "2169: The Controller battery needs to be replaced: Battery 0 Controller n" (where n denotes the controller number)-- may erroneously appear even though the battery is OK and does not need to be replaced. A new erroneous alert may also be logged intermittently on a system reboot. You can apply a patch to resolve this problem. The patch is available under "Drivers & Downloads" -> "Systems Management" -> "Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Updates".
Download 1.Click the “Download Now” link to download the file. 2.If the Export Compliance Disclaimer window appears, click the “I agree” link to accept the agreement. 3.Download the file to a directory on your hard drive.
Extract Files 1.Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and unzip the package using the following command: gunzip xxxx.tar.gz 2.Untar the package using the following command: tar –xvf xxxx.tar
Installation 1.Change current directory to the location where the files were extracted. 2.Run the following command to perform an express install: sh linux/supportscripts/srvadmin-install.sh --express 3.Start the applicable services by running the following command: sh linux/supportscripts/srvadmin-services.sh start
