This patch addresses 2 problems.
1. It deals with a runtime issue in Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Storage Management with the PERC 3/Di controller on PowerEdge 1650, PowerEdge 2650, and PowerEdge 4600 systems. If you have the latest Dell Windows driver package installed (version 2.8.0.6085), you will receive an incorrect driver-out-of-date warning/alert. This issue causes the Storage tree in OpenManage Server Administrator to be in a warning state, erroneous alerts to be sent, and a warning state for the system to be displayed under OpenManage IT Assistant and Dell OpenManage Connections (MOM, HP OpenView, CA Unicenter). Applying the patch resolves this issue.
Note: Once the patch is installed, the driver version for the latest driver will be displayed as 2.8.0.6076 instead of 2.8.0.6085.
2. It deals with a condition where Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Storage Management may generate an incorrect “battery replacement” message in the system event log and the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Alert log during initialization on the Dell PowerEdge 1850, 1950, 2850, 2900, 2950, 6800 and 6850 systems with a PERC 5/I or PERC 5/e controller. Depending on system configuration, the following battery replacement alert-- "2169: The Controller battery needs to be replaced: Battery 0 Controller n" (where n denotes the controller number)-- may erroneously appear even though the battery is OK and does not need to be replaced. A new erroneous alert may also be logged intermittently on a system reboot. Applying the patch resolves this issue.
Note: After applying the patch, you may need to refresh the Storage tree in Server Administrator to get storage information. There will be a slight delay in populating the Storage information.
