3. If the firmware flash utility fails to update, please use the legacy mode instead of the BIOS default SATA configuration.

Windows based firmware update for ST500DM002/ST320DM000/ST250DM000:
1. Download the file into your desktop .
2. Create the USB Flash Drive:
2.1. Place a USB Flash Drive into your computer. The USB flash drive will be erased. Remove any files that you need from the USB Flash Drive before you move to next step.
2.2 Double click the SeaBootBuilder_Dell_Pharoh_KC47.exe. Then select Run and follow the prompts.
2.3 Select the USB Flash Drive letter, check the box that states "This will wipe out your USB, ok to create ". Then click the create button.
2.4 When "Installation Complete" shows at the top on the screen, close the program.
3. Flash the new FW to HDD.
3.1 Plug the USB flash drive created in the step 2 into the system that needs to be updated.
3.2 Press F12 when power up the system and choose the USB device as boot device.
3.3 System will boot up into Seagate Express Tools Menu.
3.4 There is only one option to select. Type in the number 1 and the update utility will scan for the system for drives to update. The utility will then update all drives that need to be updated.
3.5. Utility will show "PASS" after successfully updated the FW and system will enter into normal window OS environment . Unplug the USB drive.

Reboot will be required
