Important Information
***IMPORTANT***
***Known limitation:
Modifying (reconfiguring) a 1.09 Terabyte or larger array on an Adaptec PERC2/QC RAID Controller may result in Data Loss.
NOTE: Modification of an array includes any activity that involves RAID-level migration, online capacity expansion, shrinking, or stripe-size migration.
NOTICE: Do not modify an array larger than 1.09 terabyte using Adaptec PERC2/QC RAID controller firmware 2.8.0.6089, revision A13 AND EARLIER.
PERC2/QC RAID controller firmware v2.8.0.6089, revisions A13 AND EARLIER (including this release), have a limitation that doesn't support modifying an array of size 1.09 TB or greater. Trying to do so may result in data loss. The limitation affects only the size of the array—not the number of arrays that you can create. In addition, this issue is related to PERC2/QC RAID controller firmware and is not related to the RAID hardware.
The affected firmware version in this release is displayed as 2.7-1[Build 3170] in the controller’s BIOS, and is also contained in the B2317010.exe and the RAID-FRMW-R46865.exe packages available at support.dell.com. Future versions of the PERC2/QC firmware subsequent to v2.8-0.6089 will not have this issue
Instead of modifying an existing array do either of the following:
1. Create a different Array of the desired size and copy data from the existing array to the new one.
2. Backup the data from the existing array, delete the array, create a new array of the desired size, and restore the data.***
