Dell OpenManage Server Agent provides fault management, prefailure, asset,
and inventory information to management applications. Dell OpenManage
Server Agent installs from the "Dell OpenManage Server Assistant"
applications CD.
Dell OpenManage Server Agent provides extensive online documentation,
including a "User's Guide," a "Messages Reference Guide," and reference
Guides for two systems management standards: the common information model
(CIM) and the simple network management protocol (SNMP). Online
documentation is distributed either on the online documentation CD or on
the Dell World Wide Web site (http://support.dell.com).
Dell OpenManage Server Agent supports each of the major systems management
standards: CIM, Desktop Management Interface (DMI), and SNMP. The
availability of CIM, DMI, and SNMP are dependent on the operating system
you are running on your system. In come cases, the availability of these
systems management standards also depends on the version of the operating
system you are running.

Important Information
If you have a previous version of Dell OpenManage Server Agent 4.x or
any version of Dell OpenManage Hardware Instrumentation Package (HIP)
3.x installed on your system, you must uninstall it before installing
Dell OpenManage Server Agent 4.2.2.

Fixes & Enhancements
Dell OpenManage Server Agent 4.2.2 supports the Dell PowerEdge 350. In
addition, Dell OpenManage Server Agent 4.2.2 resolves the following issues.
INCORRECT CURRENT SENSOR DATA
In rare circumstances Dell OpenManage Server Agent incorrectly reported
data for current (amperage) sensors. Incorrect amperage readings may have
been reported for the following PowerEdge systems: 4300, 4350, 4400,
6300, 6350, 6400, and 6450.
SNMP TIMEOUTS WITH POWERVAULT 2xxs SCSI DISK SYSTEMS
In rare circumstances the Dell OpenManage Server Agent SNMP interface
stops responding when a Dell PowerVault 2xxs storage system is attached to
a system. The DMI and CIM interfaces may also stop responding.
Installation Instructions
1. Download the self-extracting zip file "OMSA_422.exe"
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting
file downloaded in step 1.
4. To install, run the "setup.exe" program in the directory to which you
unpacked the OpenManage Server Agent files. See following.
Dell OpenManage Server Agent 4.2.2 provides support for unattended
installation on Windows NT and Windows 2000. This feature is documented in
the Dell OpenManage Server Agent User's Guide. The following information
supplements the procedures provided in the user's guide.
UNATTENDED INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS NT AND WINDOWS 2000
Dell OpenManage Server Agent 4.2.2 provides support for unattended
installation on Windows NT and Windows 2000. This feature is documented in
the Dell OpenManage Server Agent User's Guide.
The following information supplements the procedures provided in
the "User's Guide":
NOTE: Executing the unattended install program "setup.exe /s" is an
asynchronous operation like many Microsoft Windows applications. After you
have entered the "setup.exe /s" command, the task returns to the batch
stream or command line prompt while the unattended install continues to
execute in the background.
1. If you want to pause the batch stream until the unattended install
completes, type:
start /wait setup.exe /s
2. To activate the Dell OpenManage Server Agent after performing the
unattended installation, reboot the system.
