Description

6.2.1.5 - Windows 2003, 2008 and 2008x64 driver For Dell PowerVault TL2000/TL4000 adds support for the V2 drives.

Level of Importance:Optional

Dell recommends the customer review specifics about the update to determine if it applies to your system. The update contains changes that impact only certain configurations, or provides new features that may/may not apply to your environment.

Important Information

Important: If you are performing a driver update from a previouse driver version, follow the driver un-install instructions prior to installing version 6.2.1.5. Failure to follow instructions could result in a system crash. Normal usage of the Dell PowerVault TL2000/TL4000 medium changer driver is for native backup via the Removable Storage Manager (RSM) or, when licensed, for implementation with the PowerVault TL2000/TL4000’s Data Path and Control Path failover feature. Most backup software vendors do not require the use of this driver. Please check with your backup software vendor for their specific requirements. Normal usage of the Dell PowerVault TL2000/TL4000 tape drive driver is when the operating system or backup application do not include a device driver for the tape drive. Or, when licensed, for implementation with the PowerVault TL2000/TL4000’s Data and Control Path failover feature. Most backup software vendors do not require the use of this driver. Rather, most backup software vendors include a tape drive driver or leverage the operating system’s “in-box” native tape drive driver. Please check with your backup software vendor for their specific requirements. The installation method for the Dell 6.2.1.5 device drivers has a few major changes: - The “Tape device” driver and “Tape Library” driver are now two independent packets. The change gives the user the option of installing the “Tape device” only (Most “backup applications” do not require the medium changer driver). Refer to PowerVault TL2000-4000 readme.txt document for full details.
