Dell recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains feature enhancements or changes that will help keep your system software current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers and software).

Important Information

WARNING!!! DO NOT REMOVE THE DISKETTE WHILE FLASHING!!! WARNING!!! UNDER WINDOWS NT/2000 DO NOT HIT ANY KEY ON KEYBOARD WHILE FLASHING!!! WARNING!!! Do not use the Dell Update Package version of this update on systems running OpenIPMI drivers, IMB drivers, or Windows Server 2003 R2! If you must install this update on the afore-mentioned systems, use the DOS update utility.

Installation Instructions

            
Custom Instructions for PE2600-ESMA32.exe: 

Dell Online Instructions: 

 1. Download the .exe file to a directory on your hard drive. The file 
downloaded is a self-extracting executable.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
The files may be un-zipped to floppy disk or hard drive(if the hard drive 
is in the system to be updated).
3. After the files have been un-zipped, you may delete the self-
extracting file downloaded in step 1.

MS-DOS Version
1. Boot the system requiring the update to DOS.
2. Insert the diskette created above or change to the directory on the 
hard drive where the files were un-zipped.
3. At the DOS prompt, type "SMFLSH2". This will run SMFLSH2.EXE
4. Answer “Y” at the prompt to begin the upgrade.

Windows NT/2000 Version 

There are two methods of upgrade in Windows NT/2000. 

1. In a DOS window, change to the directory the files were un-zipped 
to 
and type “SMFLSH2NT”. Answer “Y    at the prompt to begin the 
upgrade. 

2. Using Windows Explorer, browse to the location containing the files 
un-
zipped above(diskette or hard drive). Run(double-click) 
SMFLSH2NT.EXE and 
answer “Y” at the prompt to begin the upgrade.

 OpenManage Format 

Note: You must have the Dell Management software or OpenManage 
Server 
Administrator installed to proceed. 

1. Download the .zip file. 
2. Start Server Administrator. 
3. Click System. 
4. Click Main System Chassis. 
5. Click Firmware. 
6. Click the Update tab. 
7. Click Browse and navigate to where the zip file was downloaded 
8. Select the zip file, click Validate Update File 
9. After the file is validated, click Begin Update and follow the 
remaining prompts to perform the update. 

GnuPG Signature of Dell Update Package Instructions for ESM-LX-A32.bin.sign:

Download
1. Click the "Download Now" link to download the file.
2. When the "File Download" window appears, click "Save" to save the file to your hard drive.

Installation
1. Import the Dell public key. (You only need to do once on your system.)
2. Verify the Dell Update Package by using its signature file, ESM-LX-A32.bin.sign
