To uprade the firmware on your LG DVD-ROM to version 1.13 drive perform the following steps.
NOTE: To perform this upgrade you will need to have your DVD-ROM and floppy disk drive connected to your computer. For instructions on how to attach your floppy drive externally, see your system documentation.
Make sure that your computer is plugged in to AC power before attempting this upgrade!
Step 1) After you have downloaded the firmware update, locate and double click on the DLGDVD01.exe file.
Step 2) Insert a blank formatted floppy diskette into drive A: and click "Setup".
Step 3) After clicking "Setup," follow the onscreen prompts and the files will be automatically extracted to drive A:.
Step 4) After extracting the files, restart your computer with the floppy diskette in the drive. If your system does not boot from the LG DVD-ROM firmware upgrade diskette, see your system documentation regarding changing the "Boot Sequence" in your system bios.
Step 5) The firmware upgrade process will begin automatically. During the firmware upgrade process you will see a progress bar with the firmware update status. Once it has completed, you will see a message with the updated drive information. If you recieve a message stating "Current drive is not supported..", your drive is not an LG DVD-ROM or is not the correct model of LG DVD-ROM drive and this upgrade is not applicable to your drive. Do not unplug or turn off your machine while the upgrade is being performed!
Step 6) After the firmware upgrade process is complete, remove the floppy diskette from the drive and restart the computer.
After restarting, the operating system may re-detect the drive and prompt another restart.
To confirm that the firmware upgrade was completed properly, perform the following steps.
Step 1) To view the firmware revision of the DVD-ROM drive you will need to look in Windows Device Manager.
Step 2) In Windows 98SE, or Windows Millenium Edition you can access the Device Manager by first right clicking on your "My Computer" icon. Next, click on the "Device Manager" tab. Next, click on the "+" next to "CDROM". Once you have clicked on the "+" next to "CDROM" double click on "LG DVD-ROM". Next, click on the settings tab. The "Firmware revision:" in the upper right hand corner should now be "1.13". If the revision number still shows 1.11 or earlier, run through the firmware upgrade steps again.
In Windows 2000, it will be necessary to locate the new firmware version in the LG status window during the flash process, as Windows 2000 lacks a means to report the firmware version.
