Programrettelser og forbedringer
Initial Release A timeout problem was reported with Maxtor Atlas 15K SCSI hard disk drives running a specific Hard Drive Stress test script under Linux 9.0 within a PE1600SC system. When the Messages log file within Linux is viewed, a System Timeout, Bus Reset, and 04/40/0C check condition may be recorded.
This issue was found while running the Hard Drive stress test. There is no known customer reported problem running a specific application. In this test environment, the drive is requested to perform reverse sequential reads. In some cases, this issue can intermittently create an internal race condition causing the the drive to ‘hang’, requiring the Operating system to issue a bus reset.

NOTE: Before proceeding with the update, refer to README.TXT file, section 4.0 "Using The Update Utility" for important information regarding the update process.
For drives connected to an LSI 1020 or 1030 SCSI controller: 1. Insert the firmware update diskette into the floppy drive and reboot the system. 2. The utility will automatically determine the correct device to update when booted 3. Once the update is complete Remove the diskette and reboot the system.
For drives connected to an Adapted 7899 or 39160 SCSI controller: 1. Modify the CONFIG.SYS file on the diskette by removing the 'REM' statement in the line Device=ASPIDRV\ASPI8U2.SYS and adding the ‘REM’ statement to the line Device=ASPIDRV\ASPIMPT.SYS. This modification loads the ASPI driver for Adaptec controllers instead of the ASPI driver for LSI controllers 2. Insert the firmware update diskette into the floppy drive and reboot the system. 3. The utility will automatically determine the correct device to update when booted 4. Once the update is complete Remove the diskette and reboot the system.
For drives connected to Channel 0 of an LSI RAID controller (PERC 3/SC, PERC 3/DC, PERC 3/DCL, PERC 3/QC, PERC 4/Di, PERC 4/SC, PERC 4/DC): 1. Insert the firmware update diskette into the floppy drive and reboot the system. 2. The utility will automatically determine the correct device to update when booted 3. Once the update is complete Remove the diskette and reboot the system.
For drives connected to Channel 1 of an LSI RAID controller (PERC 3/SC, PERC 3/DC, PERC 3/DCL, PERC 3/QC, PERC 4/Di, PERC 4/SC, PERC 4/DC): 1. Modify the CONFIG.SYS file on the diskette by removing the 'REM' statement in the line “Device=ASPIDRV\MEGASPI.SYS /a1” and adding the REM statement to the line “Device=ASPIDRV\MEGASPI.SYS /a0”. 2. Insert the firmware update diskette into the floppy drive and reboot the system. 3. The utility will automatically determine the correct device to update when booted 4. Once the update is complete Remove the diskette and reboot the system.
For drives connected an Adaptec RAID controller (PERC 3/Si, PERC 3/DI): 1. Modify the CONFIG.SYS file on the diskette by removing the 'REM' statement in the line "Device=ASPIDRV\ELITEAPI.SYS /M" and adding the ‘REM’ statement to the lines “Device=ASPIDRV\MEGASPI.SYS /a0” and “Device=ASPIDRV\MEGASPI.SYS /a1”. 2. Insert the firmware update diskette into the floppy drive and reboot the system. 3. The utility will automatically determine the correct device to update when booted 4. Once the update is complete Remove the diskette and reboot the system.
