Firmware upgrade while controller is doing background I/O task:
Do not run if Back Ground Initalization is in process or may take place. Firmware upgrade process will fail if any background I/O task (i.e. RAID-5 background consistency check or power on auto-resume rebuild and reconstruction) is being performed.
BGI also occurs approximately 5 minutes after creating a Raid volume. If BGI occurs during Microcode down load, the drive will fail and blink amber light. Drive will accept Microcode download after BGI finishes with no negative effects.
