Windows based firmware update for ST9500423AS/ST9750420AS:-
1. Download and unzip D2D5DEM1.zip into your desktop.
2. In D2D5DEM1 folder, please search for the Windows folder.
3. Double click D2D5DEM1.EXE and it will begin to run. On the first screen you will select your language, and then select OK. The next screen is the welcome screen, click Next to proceed. Following up with a warning screen, please read thoroughly and select Next. The next screen is the License Agreement screen. If you agree, choose I accept and then click Next.
4. You will then come to the screen that asks you to close and save all applications and to back up your data. When you are ready to start the firmware update, please check Begin firmware update procedure, and then click Proceed.
5. The computer will reboot and follow up with the HDD firmware update activities. Once the firmware update is complete the system will reboot into Windows.

USB based firmware update for ST9500423AS/ST9750420AS:-
1. Download and unzip D2D5DEM1.zip into your desktop. In D2D5DEM1 folder, please search for the USB folder.
2. Please insert a USB key and execute USB5DEM1.EXE. This will launch the Seagate Linux USB boot maker utility. Click Next to proceed.
3. The next screen is the License Agreement screen. If you agree, choose I accept and then click Next. Following up with a warning screen, please select your desired USB key drive letter. You may backup all your data in your USB key as the Seagate Linux USB boot maker utility will wipe out your USB key. Check This will wipe out to proceed and click Create. Choose Yes to format your USB key.
4. Reboot your computer from the USB key, your computer will now start updating the HDD firmware. Once the firmware update is completed, please any key to continue and this will turn off your computer. Once the computer has been powered down, you can now turn the computer on.
