To install the network driver for Microsoft Windows 98 and Windows 98 SE, perform the following steps:
1. Right click the My Computer icon, and select 'Properties'.
2. Click on Device Manager tab. Select 'PCI Ethernet Controller' and click on 'Properties'.
3. At the next screen, click the Driver tab, select 'Update Driver'.
4. At next screen, select Next, then select 'Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location', so you can select the driver you want.
5. Click Next and at next screen select 'Have Disk'.
6. At Install From Disk screen, select 'Browse', locate the directory where you expanded these files, and click OK.
7. At Next Screen, click OK again. Files will be copied to your hard drive.
8. When file copy is done, click Finish. You will need to restart the system for the drivers to be loaded.
To reinstall the network driver for Microsoft Windows Me:
1. Right click the My Computer icon, and select 'Properties'.
2. Click on Device Manager tab.
3. Click on the + (plus) sign next to Network Adapters and highlight 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible).
4. Click on Properties tab.
5. Click on Driver tab.
6. Select Update Driver.
7. At next screen, select 'Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)' and click on Next.
8. At next screen, select 'Specify a location:' and then 'Browse' to find the directory the driver was extracted to. (i.e. c:\dell\drivers\….) and click OK.
9. Click Next, at the next three screens to begin the file copy process.
10. Click Finish to complete the installation and select 'Yes' when prompted to restart your computer.
To reinstall the network driver in Microsoft Windows 2000, perform the following steps:
1. Right-click the My Network Places icon and click 'Properties'.
2. Right-click the 'Local Area Connection' icon and click 'Properties'.
3. Click 'Configure', then the Driver Tab, and click 'Update Driver'.
4. Select 'Display a list of known drivers', click Next.
5. Select 'Have Disk', and use the Browse button to point to the directory the driver was extracted to. (i.e. c:\dell\drivers\….)
6. Click Open, then OK.
7. At the Select Adapter screen, select '3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible)', click Next, then click Next again.
8. Click Finish to complete the installation.
9. Close the Adapter Properties window.
To reinstall the network driver for Microsoft Windows XP:
1. Click on Start Menu | "My Computer" | "View System Information".
2. Click on the "Hardware Tab", and click the "Device Manager" button.
3. Click on "+" by "Network Adapters".
4. Double click on "3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller".
5. Click on "Driver" tab, and then click on the "Update Driver" button.
6. Select "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)", click "Next".
7. Select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install", click "Next".
8. Select 'Have Disk', and use the Browse button to point to the directory the driver was extracted to. (i.e. c:\dell\drivers\….)
9. Click Open, then OK.
10. At the Select Adapter screen, select '3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible)', click Next.
11. Click "Finish" to complete the installation.
12. Close and open windows related to the installation.
