History: on power up, Maxtor Atlas 10K drives generate an audible noise while executing Gamma Calibration. This noise is part of the normal start up procedure; there are no problems with the drive. This noise will not occur during an active or idle drive state after the system is fully powered on and entered a ready state. This utility disables the startup gamma calibration routine.

NOTE: In order to create this diskette, the file must be downloaded to and executed on a system running Microsoft Windows.

3. When the File Download window appears, click "Save" to save the file to your hard drive.
Diskette Creation
1. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and double-click the new file to create the diskette set.
2. Insert a blank diskette then click Continue.
3. After all the files have been copied to the last, click Finish.

3. The utility will automatically determine the correct device to update when booted
