- When viewing SATA physical disk properties from Ctrl-C or other
management applications, Vendor Identification must be translated
as "ATA" followed by blanks. Please see SATA translation
specification, revision 5, pages 24-25 for more details.

- When multiple logical disks are configured on the SAS 6/iR and when viewing the logical disks from RAID Properties of the Ctrl-C BIOS utility, the order in which the logical disks are displayed may be reversed from the order in which they are created. This has no effect on the adapter functionality or boot order of the logical disks.

- When adding a SAS 6/iR controller to a system, either by physically
adding an adapter or by enabling the integrated SAS controller in
the system BIOS, the new controller may need to be added to the
controller boot order in the SAS 6/iR BIOS configuration Utility.
At POST, hit CTRL-C to enter the utility and verify or modify the
controller boot order.

- Migration of RAID Volumes from SAS 6/iR controllers to PERC6 controllers
is supported only for volumes originally created on SAS 6/iR controllers
running FW revision 00.25.47.00 or later.

- This version of firmware will not ensure complete compatibility with an
older version of the management application.
OpenManage 5.5 or greater is recommended.

- It is recommended that the customer upgrade the management application
and device driver to the latest version available from Dell at the time of
installation of this firmware.

- Before updating the SAS controller firmware using the DUP package in a Linux system, it is necessary to upgrade the SAS controller driver. Executing the SAS controller firmware DUP update while running a native Linux driver may cause the system/data volumes on the SAS controller to become inaccessible or Read-Only.

The recommended steps to update the SAS controller using the firmware DUP package on a Linux system to this new software level are as follows:
1.Upgrade the driver
2.Reboot the system
3.Upgrade thefirmware
4.Reboot the system

The problem does not occur if the SAS controller FW is updated from a bootable device (non Linux environment).

NOTE: This initial section of the Installation Instructions applies only to configurations with (greater than) 2TB SEDs.

1. Update the firmware version to this version using preferred method below (Zip Pack, Windows DUP, Linux DUP).
2. Reboot for the new FW take effect
3. Un-assign any (greater than) 2TB SED Dedicated or Global Hot Spares in the configuration. Not all configurations have hot spares.
4. Use CTRL-R or OMSS to issue Instant Secure Erase to all un-configured (greater than) 2TB SED drives (all data in these drives will be lost)
5. Re-assign (greater than) 2TB SED Hot Spares.
