Custom Instructions for BR217232.exe: (PLEASE DON'T INTERRUPT THE FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCESS) For Bootable Diskette: 1. Perform a full backup of your data. 2. Click on the (BR217232.EXE) file and select "RUN" then "RUN" again. 3. Choose "Continue" in the next window to create a bootable floppy. 4. Close all applications and restart system. 5. Press F12 and insert the floppy disk containing the firmware update. 6. Select boot from Floppy. 7. The Samsung Firmware Update will start automatically. 8. The utility will auto scan and update the appropriate Samsung HM400LI or HM500LI Drive. 9. Once completed, a message indicating process completion will appear. 10. Remove the floppy diskette and power off your system. 11. Power on your system to continue normal operation. Custom Instructions for R217232.exe: (PLEASE DON'T INTERRUPT THE FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCESS) For Bootable CD option 1. Perform a full backup of your data. 2. Click on the (R217232.EXE) file and select "RUN" then "RUN" again. 3. Press "Continue" then "OK" to extract the files to the provided location. 4. Refer to your CD burning application instructions to create a bootable CD using the provided file "C:\DELL\Drivers\R217232\CD Image\Samsung Utility.ISO". 5. Restart your system. 6. Press F12 and insert the CD containing the firmware update. 7. Select boot from CD/DVD. 8. The Samsung Firmware Update will start automatically. 9. The utility will auto scan and update the appropriate Samsung HM400LI or HM500LI Drive. 10. Once completed, a message indicating process completion will appear. 11. Remove the CD and power off your PC. 12. Power on your PC to continue normal operation. For Bootable USB key option 1. Perform a full backup of your data. 2. Click on the (R217232.EXE) file and select "RUN" then "RUN" again. 3. Press "Continue" then "OK" to extract the files to the provided location. 4. The files are located in "C:\DELL\Drivers\R217232\Files" directory. 5. Add thefiles to your bootable USB key. 6. Restart your system. 7. Insert your USB key containing the firmware update. 8. Press F12 and choose boot from USB .9. The Samsung Firmware Update will start automatically. 10. The utility will auto scan and update the appropriate Samsung HM400LI or HM500LI Drive. 11. Once completed, a message indicating process completion will appear. 12. Remove the Bootable Media and power off your system.
