Installation instructions

Downloading the 32-bit and 64-bit System Drivers for Dell Laser Printers 5210/5310

Downloading and Extracting the web package:
1. Download the file "R122670.exe" from the Dell Support Website and save it to your hard drive. Suggest selecting the “Desktop” as the “Save-to” location for ease of finding the file after the download has completed.
2. After the download has completed, locate and double-click the file "R122670.exe" to begin the file extraction process.
3. The self-extractor opens, it is suggested the default “Unzip to folder” remain as provided; click "Unzip".
4. After the files extract, click OK; then click "Close"
5. On the system desktop, locate the folder "R122670" and double-click to open.

Extracting the Driver Package:
1. Choose the appropriate language folder.
2. Double click the driver set you wish to use.
NOTE: You will notice three different driver sets in the language folder. The Winx64 drivers should be used for 64-bit Windows operating systems. The other two packages are system level drivers (PCL and PS) for 32-bit Windows operating systems. These drivers are for use in mixed operating system environments where a 64-bit print server supports 32-bit clients.
3. Follow the directions from the InstallShield Wizard.
4. Note the install path for the extraction process. You will need this information later.

Installing the Print Drivers:
1. From the Printers and Faxes folder, double click the Add Printer icon.
2. Follow the directions provided by the Add Printer Wizard.
3. On the “Local or Network Printer” dialogue from the Add Printer Wizard, choose the default “Local Printer attached to the computer” regardless of the actual connection type. You will still be able to choose a network connection option on the next dialogue screen.
4. If you are connected to the printer via Parallel or USB cable, choose the appropriate port type from the “Select a Port” dialogue screen. If you are connected via network cable, choose the “Create a new port” radio button and select the “Standard TCP/IP port” option.
5. If you chose the network option from the previous step, you will need to provide the IP address of the printer. Print a configuration page or navigate to the TCP/IP address information on the printer operator panel to get this information.
6. From the “Install Printer Software” dialogue, select the “Have Disk” button and browse to the location where you saved the driver package extraction. Point the wizard to the appropriate INF file. This should happen automatically once you browse to the directory where the INF file is stored.
7. Print a test page to ensure successful operation.
