Important Information

The Linux applications requires a minimum of RHEL3 with GCC 3.2.3 or at least SLES9 Enterprise Edition. To update tape devices on systems with earlier versions of linux, please remove the drive from that system then perform the update with the tape drive connected to a system with a supported version of Linux. After the update is complete return the drive to the original system.

**updating the device via DFU will allow user to update one device at a time. Using the Dell Update Packages will update all devices found on the system automatically.

Fixes & Enhancements

This release includes firmware 5538 (v56) which was previously released. This release includes 2 new tools, DFU and DUPs.

DFU which supports firmware upgrade on Windows, Linux, and Netware platforms and allows users to manually update each tape drive on these platforms.

DUPs is an automated FW update tool for Windows and Linux platforms that will auto-update all relevant tape devices attached to the system.

Installation instructions

Linux
1.Copy the file R130973.tar.gz file to the Linux system.
2.Open a console session and go to the directory where the file was saved and type the command: tar –zxvf R130973.tar.gz
3.Go to the linux directory of the unziped files and type ./DFU and follow the instructions on the screen.

Hard Drive Installation (via WinZip) with HTML Pop-Up Window for
R130973.EXE

Download
1.Click Download Now, to download the file.
2.When the File Download window appears, click Save this program to
disk (Windows XP users, click Save) and click OK. The Save In: window
appears.
3.From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to
select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.
4.If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file
name icon appears on your desktop.

Install
1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R130973.EXE.
The Self-Extractor window appears.
2.Click OK or Continue.
The Self-Extracting Driver Installation window appears and prompts to
extract files to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R130973.
3.Leave all of the default settings and click Unzip or OK. If the
directory doesn't exist, you'll be prompted to create one. Click Yes. A
Self Extractor window appears and indicates C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R130973 files were
extracted.
4.Click OK.
Follow the on-screen installation instructions in the window.

HTML Pop-Up With Install Now Button
1.The Dell Software Installation Documentation window appears.
2.Click the Install Now button. A File Download window appears.
3.Click Run this program from its current location and click OK.
The Security Warning window appears.
4.Click Yes. The InstallShield Wizard window appears.
5.Follow the on-screen instructions.

Download

1. Click the "Download Now" link to download the file.
2. When the File Download window appears, click "Save" to save the file to your hard drive.

Installation

1. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and double-click the new file.
