This is a general maintenance release for SAS and SATA drives. It is a re-release of the previous version with additional firmware updates.

1.0 HITACHI SAS 3.5" No Previous Release * Firmware Version A5F0 * -The Hitachi SAS release for 15K 3.5" SAS hard drive firmware to fix Linux install hang in a RAID-0 config. -During a Linux install small block sequential writes occur which brings out this bug and result in a hang -During install when attached to SAS-5/iR running in RAID 0. The firmware will rev from A48B to A5F0.
2.0 FUJITSU SAS 3.5" and 2.5" Previously Released as: R156342 * Firmware versions D207 and D109 * -The Fujitsu SAS release for 15K 3.5" AL9LX and 10K 2.5" AL9SE SAS hard drive firmware to fix the possible offline conditions. A change was implemented in firmware to return a different sense data under certain rare error conditions. Making this change in some instances will allow the array controller the opportunity to initiate its own built-in error correction procedures rather than taking the drive offline. The firmware will rev from D206 to D207 on 3.5" and D108 to D109 on 2.5" drives.
3.0 MAXTOR SAS 3.5" Previously Released as: R159954 * Firmware Version BP05 * -This addresses Maxtor SAS HDD firmware issues, where under certain circumstances a hard disk drive may go offline, hard disk drives (HDD), may report offline due to a timeout condition. If the HDD is unable to complete commands, this may result in the controller reporting the HDD off line. This firmware update has improved SMART Reporting, where drives can report SMART trips due to aggressive SMART Error Rate Measurement counters during read verifies.
4.0 SEAGATE SAS 3.5" Previously Released as: R157626 * Firmware versions S515 and T109 * -This firmware affects the following Seagate SAS 3.5" 15k AND 10k hard disk drives. If the write cache option of Windows Server 2000 is disabled, and SAS hard disks are connected to SAS5 I controller on PowerEdge servers, the hard disks may go offline under a heavy I/O workload. This issue only impacts the Seagate SAS hard disk with SAS 5I under Windows Server 2000.
5.0 SEAGATE 15K SAS 2.5" Previously Released as: R157639 * Firmware versions S207 and SM04 * -The following Seagate SAS 2.5" hard disk may go offline under heavy I/O workload in Windows Server 2000. If a customer disables the write cache option of Windows Server 2000, and SAS hard disks are connected to SAS5 I controller on PowerEdge servers, the hard disks may go offline under the heavy I/O workload. This issue only impacts the Seagate SAS hard disk with SAS 5I under Windows Server 2000.
6.0 SEAGATE 10K SAS 2.5" and 15K4 3.5" Previously Released as: R157381 * Firmware Versions S110 * A new firmware for Seagate SAS drives is available with enhanced predictive failure algorithm. 1) This new firmware enhances the drives ability to detect and report some media 03/11/00 errors encountered with a large block verify command used by the controller Patrol Read function. 2) Corrects a problem that could cause the drive to hang while running Drive Self-Test (DST). DST is run during diagnostics. 3) Corrected a remote possibility of drive hang caused by a task management logical unit number reset.
7.0 Western Digital SATA Previously Released as: R154797 * Firmware Versions 0A04, 6C06 and 2E0B * -New firmware for the Western Digital SATA hard drive stated below will help improve stability and overall reliability of these drives. During the next scheduled maintenance window, please update the drive firmware to the latest levels on the following 3.5", 7200 RPM, Western Digital, SATA drives
8.0 Western Digital SATA 3.5" Version 6C07 No Previous Release * Firmware Version 6C07 * -New firmware for the Western Digital SATA hard drive stated below corrects the drive's behavior of aborting of Security Set Password command w/ Master Password. The following WD 3.5" 160GB and 250GB SATA drives will be updated to firmware version 6C07.

Please note: Only Dell Branded SAS/SCSI, PERC and embedded ICH controllers are supported.
On drives attached to PERC5/PERC6 controllers, the first drive to be updated requires a 5 minute delay before firmware flash to begin. Do not power cycle or reboot your system while the update is in progress.
1. Click the "Download Now" link to download the file. 2. When the File Download window appears, click "Save" to save the file to your hard drive.
Installation
1. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and double-click the new file. 2. Read over the release information presented in the dialog window. 3. Download and install any prerequisites identified in the dialog window before proceeding. 4. Click the Install button. 5. Follow the remaining prompts to perform the update.
Detailed Instructions
1) Click Download now. The File Download window appears.
2) Click the Save button. The Save As window appears.
3) Select Desktop using the drop-down menu to the right of Save in.
4) Click the Save button. A progress meter moves as the download is completed.
5) If necessary, click X in the upper right-hand corner of the Download Progress Window to close it upon completion.
6) Double click the Icon on your desktop for the newly saved file.
