Fixes & Enhancements

This driver merges the previous Dell 'Special' code stream and the Adaptec 'Service Pack' code
stream - as of this release Dell A11 = Adaptec FMS 4.0 SP5.

· Clustering certification

· With non-disk device such as HP Ultrium Tape drive, the driver did not negotiate transfer
rate, all subsequent I/O transfers occurred as asynchronous speeds.

Library.

· Fix for Fast or Multi SCSI ID Tape Library Timeout

· Added fix for Request Sense Timeout in Non-tag code path.

SP1 - SP4: this is a change list/history applicable to the Adaptec Service Pack code stream, and
only covers changes made to Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 drivers:

Service Pack 1
Windows 2000:
· Fixed Issue: The termination setting for channel B on the AIC-7899 was being set
incorrectly. The problem is seen only on motherboards in which the AIC-7899 has been designed to
control the termination for channel A and Motherboards that do not use the AIC-7899 to control the
termination of the bus will not see this problem. Adaptec host adapters do not exhibit this
problem either.

Service Pack 2
Netware fixes only; no Windows 2000 or 2003 changes.

Service Pack 3
Windows 2000:
· Fixed Issue: With non-disk device such as HP Ultrium Tape drive, the driver did not
negotiate transfer rate, all subsequent IO transfers occurred as Async.

· Tape IO Test certification failure fix.

Service Pack 4
Windows 2000:
· Clustering certification

· With non-disk device such as HP Ultrium Tape drive, the driver did not negotiate transfer
rate, all subsequent I/O transfers occurred as asynchronous speeds.

· Command timeout with Event 9 errors logged in win2k Event log when using Tape Library.

· Fix for Fast or Multi SCSI ID Tape Library Timeout

prior to updating the driver you will need to:
1. Disable the SCSI subsystem provider in the Array Manager Utilities
before upgrading the driver. Please refer to the Array Manager
documentation for details on how to do this.
2. Once the SCSI provider is disabled, you should then navigate to the
\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS folder and temporarily rename
ASPI32.SYS to ASPI32.XXX, then reboot the system before proceeding
with the upgrade.
3. Following the upgrade, you will need to reboot again before re-
naming ASPI32.SYS back to its' original name, then finally re-enabling
the SCSI provider.
