This Technical Information Sheet documents information related to any limitations or known issues in using Dell OpenManage Server Administrator 8.3 on systems running the Microsoft Windows Server 2016 operating system.

Known Issues and Limitations

  • Description: After you install Server Administrator 8.3 on systems running Windows Server 2016 operating system and then restart the operating system, there is a considerable delay in starting the OpenManage services.

    Resolution: This is a known issue and does not cause any functionality limitation. The fix for this issue can be expected in the next available version of Dell OpenManage Server Administrator.

  • Description: On systems running Windows Server 2016 operating, Server Administrator 8.3 does not start when the desktop icon is clicked.

    Resolution: This is a known issue. The fix for this issue can be expected in the next available version of Dell OpenManage Server Administrator.

  • Description: On systems running the Windows Server 2016 operating system, Cryptographic Erase is not functioning as expected.

    This issue is observed because the NVMe Application Program Interface (API) is not supported with the native Windows NVMe driver that is available on Windows Server 2016 operating system.

    Resolution: The fix for this issue can be expected in the next available version of Dell OpenManage Server Administrator or when the NVMe API is supported with the native Windows NVMe driver.
