Removing the Optical Drive

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. battery
    2. base cover
  3. Perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the screw that secures the optical drive to the computer.
    2. Push the optical drive away to remove it from the computer.Figure displaying how to remove the optical drive from the computer.
  4. After removing the optical-drive bracket, perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the optical-drive bracket [1].
    2. Remove the optical-drive bracket from the optical drive [2].

  5. Disengage the optical drive bezel tabs to separate the optical drive bezel from the optical drive.
  6. Remove the optical-drive bezel.
