Issue 1: Update your laptop's USB 3.0 Host Controller driver.

  1. With the docking station unplugged, go to Device Manager in Windows and click on the arrow to expand the section labeled Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Make note of the USB 3.0 Host Controller manufacturer. It should be Fresco, Renesas, Intel, TI, AS Media, or Etron. Make sure you are noting the version with 'USB 3.0' in the description.
  2. Double-click on the item and select the Driver tab and locate the Driver Version number.
  3. Check your driver version and date with the list below. If your driver is out of date, download the latest version using the links below and follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. After installation, a reboot may be required.

Issue 2: Update your laptop's video card driver.

  1. With the docking station unplugged, go to Device Manager in Windows and click on the arrow to expand the section labeled Display Adapters to review the name of the video card manufacturer.
  2. If the manufacturer is Intel, go to http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/. Otherwise, skip to step 5.
  3. Select Check your system for the latest updates.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and update your video driver if needed. It is normal for your screen to flash during this process and it may take up to 2 minutes to complete.
  5. If the manufacturer is Nvidia, go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us. Otherwise, skip to step 8.
  6. Under Option 2, click on Graphics Drivers and follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. After installation, a reboot may be required.
  8. If the manufacturer is ATI, go to http://www.drivermanager.com/en/drivers.php?Brand=ATI&Logo=ati&gclid=CJDi0qKIqbACFaUZQgodSmBUTg.
  9. Click on Download Driver Manager and get ATI Updates and follow the on-screen instructions.

Issue 3: Update your D3000 Driver driver.

  1. With the docking station unplugged, download the latest D3000 video driver from https://www.dell.com/support/home/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=0DGF5&osCode=W864&fileId=3203552881&languageCode=en&categoryId=IN. If you already have a pervious version of the driver installed, it will be overwritten during the installation process.
  2. Once the download is complete, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  3. After installation, a reboot may be required.

Issue 4: Connecting your docking station.

  1. Connect all peripheral devices to the docking station.
  2. Plug in the docking station power adapter and then connect the docking station to your computer's USB 3.0 port. The Windows operating system drivers should automatically update and your screen may refresh. A reboot may be required to complete the driver installation.
  3. When viewing the desktop, right-click and select Screen Resolution. Configure your external monitor(s) as preferred.
