1. Removal Guide

CRUs (Customer Replaceable Units) are the parts of the system that shouldn't need an engineer to remove or replace. This guide includes pictures to reference the processes involved.

2. Removal Instructions

Required Tools

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver

Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without speciality tools, that aren't available to our onsite engineers.
  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the SD Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

  2. Locate the SD Card slot

  1. Push in the SD Memory Card (in this case, a dummy card) to release it.

  1. Remove the SD memory card from the system

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

  2. Locate the Battery

  1. Slide the battery latches outward to unlock the battery

  1. Carefully flip the battery to remove it

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Bottom Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery

  2. Turn system upside-down and remove the battery

  1. Loosen the two captive screws securing the bottom door in place

  1. Pry up the top edge of the bottom door

  1. Rotate the right edge of the bottom door towards the top edge of the system and remove it

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Optical Drive:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Bottom Cover

  2. Locate the Optical drive

  1. Remove the single screw securing the optical drive in place

  1. Grasp the optical drive bezel and slide the drive outward

  1. Remove the optical drive from the system

  1. Remove the two screws securing the optical drive bracket in place

  1. Remove the optical drive bracket

  1. Carefully flip the optical drive bezel downward to disengage the tabs

  1. Remove the optical drive bezel

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery.

  2. Establishing image

  1. Using a scribe, carefully pry up the top edge of the keyboard

  1. Slide the keyboard towards the LCD assembly

  1. Flip the keyboard over

  1. Disconnect the keyboard cable

  1. Remove the keyboard

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Hard Drive

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Remove the Battery and Bottom Cover

  1. Locate the Hard Drive

  1. Remove the two screws securing the hard drive to the system

  1. Slide the hard drive away from its connector

  1. Pull the tab to lift and raise up the hard drive to a 45 degrees angle

  1. Remove the hard drive

  1. Remove the two screws securing the hard drive bracket in place

  1. Remove the hard drive bracket

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Memory :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Bottom Cover

  2. Locate Memory

  1. Gently pry the retention clips away from the memory module

  1. Remove the memory module from the system

  1. If there is a second memory module installed repeat steps 3 & 4

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WiFi Card

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Keyboard

  2. Locate the Wireless Card

  1. Disconnect any antennae connected to the WLAN card

  1. Remove the single screw securing the WLAN in place

  1. Remove the WLAN card

  1. Complete
