Article Summary: This article provides information on resolving installation issues with Small Business Server 2011 resulting from using a reserved name for the built-in administrator account.
Small Business Server (SBS) 2011 installation fails with multiple errors. The following entries are present in SBSSetup.log:
 110831.193854.8684: Task: Running Task(CreateNewUserTask) with Type(Microsoft.WindowsServerSolutions.Setup.Tasks.CreateNewUserTask) and Assembly(SBSSetupTasks.dll).
110831.193854.8734: Task: Beginning of task CreateNewUserTask
110831.193854.9094: Admin: Adding user to AD : UserData.CommonName=Network Administrator to LDAP://localhost/OU=SBSUsers,OU=Users,OU=MyBusiness,DC=velmousa,DC=local
 110831.193855.0714: Exception:
An exception of type 'Type: System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException, System.DirectoryServices, Version=22.214.171.124, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' has occurred.
Timestamp: 08/31/2011 19:38:54
Message: The object already exists.
110831.193855.1874: Task: Setting CreateNewUser flag to false.
110831.193855.1874: Task: In Task CreateNewUserTask: The network administrator account cannot be created.
 110831.193855.1884: Setup: Task CreateNewUserTask failed.
The only way to correct the above error is to reinstall SBS 2011 and choose any name other than NetAdmin for the built-in administrator account.
This issue is caused by using the reserved name NetAdmin for the built-in administrator account. This account already exists as a template. The user-created administrator account is used for various critical setup processes; therefore, if it cannot be created, the installation fails.
