1. Removal Guide

CRUs (Customer Replaceable Units) are the parts of the system that shouldn't need an engineer to remove or replace. This guide includes pictures to reference the processes involved.

2. Removal Instructions

Required Tools

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver

Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without speciality tools, that aren't available to our onsite engineers.
  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the SD Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

  2. Locate the SD Card slot

  1. Press in the SD memory card and release

  1. Slide the SD memory card out of the system

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

  2. Slide the battery release latche into the unlock position

  1. Remove the battery from the system

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the SIM Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery

  2. Remove the Battery and locate the SIM slot

  1. Push to release the phone SIM from the slot

  1. Pull out the phone SIM from the slot

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Access Panel:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery

  2. Turn system upside-down and remove the battery

  1. Remove the two screws securing the bottom door in place

  1. Slide the bottom door toward the front of the system and lift away from the system

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Memory :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Access Panel

  2. Locate Memory

  1. Gently pry the retention clips away from the memory module

  1. Remove the memory module from the system

  1. If there is a second memory module installed repeat steps 3 & 4

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the mSATA Card

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Remove the Battery and Access Panel

  1. Locate the mSATA card

  1. Remove the single screw securing the mSATA card

  1. Remove the mSATA from the system

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WiFi Card

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Access Panel

  2. Locate the Wireless Card

  1. Disconnect any antennae connected to the WLAN card

  1. Remove the single screw securing the WLAN in place

  1. Remove the WLAN card

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WWAN Card

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Access Panel

  2. Locate the WWAN (3G) Card

  1. Disconnect any antennae connected to the WWAN card

  1. Remove the single screw securing the WWAN in place

  1. Remove the WWAN card

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard trim:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery

  2. Locate Keyboard Trim surrounding the keyboard

  1. Carefully pry up the keyboard trim starting from the side edge

  1. Work your way around the sides of the keyboard trim

  1. Remove the keyboard trim from the system

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery, Access Panel and Keyboard Trim

  2. Under the battery remove the plastic cover protecting the keyboard cables

  1. Disconnect keyboard light (1) and keyboard cables (2).

  1. Remove the two screws securing the keyboard at the bottom of the system

  1. Flip over the system and remove three screws securing the keyboard from the chassis

  1. Remove the keyboard from the system

  1. Keyboard removed from the system
