How to discover and monitor EqualLogic using OME 2.0

This article provides information on how to discover and monitor EqualLogic (EQL) using Dell OpenManage Essentials (OME).


Target EQL

  • Product Name: PS6010
  • Group Name: ELSTest-01 
  • Member Name: PS6010-01
  • Firmware: 7.0.10
  • Management IP Address:
  • Management Port IP Address:

Host to be installed OME

  • OS: Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition
  • IP Address:
  • Installed SNMP Service

Step 1: Configuring EQL

  1. Launch and login Group Manager (Figure 1).

  2. In left pane, click Group Configuration in the group tree (Figure 2).

  3. Click the SNMP tab under Group Configuration (Figure 3).

  4. Click Add in Read-only community names under Access (Figure 4).

  5. Enter community name and click OK (Figure 5).

  6. Click Add in Trap destinations under Traps (Figure 6).

  7. Enter the IP address of the trap destination and click OK (Figure 7).

  8. Enter community name in Trap community name (Figure 8).

  9. Click the Save all changes icon (Figure 9).

Step 2: Configuring OME

1. Launch OME (Figure 10).

2. Click the Manage tab then click Discovery and Inventory (Figure 11).

3. Click Add Discovery Range under Common Tasks (Figure 12).

4.Enter Management IP address and Management Port IP address of EQL, then click Add (Figure 13).
If you don’t configure Management Port, enter Group IP address and each port IP addresses instead of Management IP address.

5.In left pane, click SNMP Configuration (Figure 14).
Click the Enable SNMP discovery checkbox and enter community name.

6. In left pane, click Discovery Range Action (Figure 15).
Choose Perform both discovery and inventory then click Finish.

7. Wait until Task State changes to Complete (Figure 16).

Step 3: Confirm the Result

Now you can see EQL is discovered and inventoried in OME. (Figure 17).
