针对vmware的备份，大家都是用vstorage API方式的集中式备份
但请问，如果VM中有数据库，这种情况用集中式备份可以保证一致性么？还是需要在 VM 中安装数据库模块做来宾式备份？

数据库的话，为了保证一致性当然推荐使用专门的数据库模块来做备份。操作上，和物理机是一样的

VADP是基于vStorage APIs的。这个是只适用于VMware环境的。
VSS是纯软件实现的，只适用于微软的自家产品。
VMware的snapshot原理和MS VSS是不一样的。
备份微软的应用还是要用各自的module的。

对于VM 中安装数据库模块做来宾式备份，一台ESXI服务器上如果有多台虚机有数据库要备的，则每种应用购买一个许可。比如有3个oracle ，3个sybase，则购买2个NETWORKER MODULE FOR DATABASES AND APPLICATIONS
我了解的情况是这样：
networker可以通过VADP方式备份VM
VADP备份可以调用VSS来备份数据和应用
照理至少VSS支持的应用，比如Exchange, Data Protection Manager, SharePoin Windows Server, SQL应该能够通过VADP备份，同时保证一致性啊？
不知道我这个说法是否可行？

NetWorker 8.0 VMware Integration Guide中有下面一段说明：
Performing a backup using VMware VADP creates a crash-consistent snapshot of a virtual
machine image. However, advanced VMware functionality allows a backup application
using VADP to achieve application-level consistent backups.
When performing a full VMware backup using VADP, in addition to VM quiescing, vSphere
version 4.1 and later provides application quiescing using VSS on Windows 2008 and
later platforms. This functionality requires that VMware tools is installed on the VM guest.
If VMware tools is not installed, there is no backup integration with the VSS framework
and backups are considered crash-consistent.
我认为这一些特定的系统版本上vmware的快照是可以调用VSS来保持应用程序的一致性的。但受限于VMware tools的支持，所以只是windows 2008 and later 平台可以
