Overview

Building on the tremendous success of the award-winning VNX, EMC will publicly announce the next-generation VNX series unified storage solution in early September. The new VNX solution revolutionizes midrange storage, delivering unprecedented levels of application performance, capacity efficiency, data protection, and ease of use.

The new EMC VNX series enabled with MCx (multi-core optimization):

• Delivers the transactional performance of a traditional midrange array at 1/3 the price, lowering customer TCO
• Drives up to 4X more virtual machines, more transactions, more file operations, and more virtual desktops—all at an affordable price
• Improves file performance for transactional applications by up to 3X with 60 percent better response time
• Reduces storage capacity requirements with FAST Suite improvements and block deduplication by up to 50 percent
• Moves beyond high availability to continuous operations within and across data centers with active-active and VPLEX
• Improves management productivity with self-service IT, increased visibility, and tight integration with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V

With the improvement in file performance, the VNX NAS targets are expanded to include transactional NAS applications like VMware over NFS, Hyper-V over CIFS, and Oracle over NFS. These enterprise applications require high-performance transactions at the lowest possible response time. The new VNX series also enhances the traditional VNX plays and use cases, including Microsoft, Oracle, virtual desktops, and home directories.
