AW3423DWF, ETA on EOTF firmware fix?

Hello Alienware team,

Many people are wondering what is the ETA on the firmware fix that's coming for the AW3423DWF? According to this article on dell website, a firmware update was suppose to be provided in mid February for the source tone map bug in HDR 1000. Alas, we're now March 1st and there's still no update in sight.

EOTF (Electro-Optical Transfer Function) curve in HDR1000 on the AW3423DWF is currently messed up as shown by many reviewers (Monitor Unboxed, etc.). Any update on when we should see a firmware fix for this would be most welcome.

I don't believe so. That part is Windows resetting the graphics driver as a consequence of the new handshake, which triggers a reset of all of the desktops.

Diablo IV does look glorious in HDR1000 mode. Finished act 1 to 6, on to glory and destruction! (In HDR).

Just updated and it seems to be fixed!

No more greyish weird contrast looking as we had before with enabling hdr1000, it looks stunning now

Played it with Cyberpunk 2077 and some other games and it looks very vibrant amazing, good blacks and very bright neon lights.

Even RE4 which has an HDR raised black issue looks stunning now!

Jedi Survivor, go to the planet with the jedi library...and see it in a totally new light.

So happy with my DWF now!

Yep, disable adaptive screen setting and recalibrate. Adaptive change colours to more warmer and it distorts image.

Well I just couldn’t believe it when I checked this thread yesterday and saw that it had been fixed. I just returned mine last week. So I checked bestbuys stock for any and they had one open box left and no new ones. So I rolled the dice and purchased the open box for 200 dollars off list price and it was in mint condition. The new firmware turns this thing into exactly what I was looking for. I use hdr 1000 and then also raise the contrast to 85 on pc and 90 on console and it’s just as bright as my lg 48 c1.  The performance of this panel is much better than the C1 though. I can’t believe I got it for cheaper and it works how it should now.  Dell came through on this one.

The one thing I had with the firmware update, was that it initially failed. It then auto continued with MB01 and upgraded without further issue to MB04.

I upgraded previously to MB03. I am not sure what the issue was as the previous upgrade went without a hitch. Maybe the issue was MB03 to MB04?

I guess I can confirm that if firmware updates fail on this monitor, it loads MB01 and does not brick it.

I had the same experience with the flash failing, minus the slider issue you are having.

I don't use DDM or AWCC.

Glad I am not the only one who experienced this. It was scary to see it fail the flash, as there's no instructions anywhere on what to do should it fail.
