Area-51 R2, hard drive size limit?

I am running Windows 10 64 bit on an Area 51 R2.  I want to replace one of my hard drives.  Are there any practical hard drive size limits?  I haven’t upgraded my bios in a long time (perhaps v4).  Should I upgrade the bios?  Does it have anything to do with it?  Thanks.

So with my system, there is no issue using a 4TB drive for storage, correct?  I use a ssd for booting and larger mechanical drives for other storage.

Limit is based on UEFI GPT vs MBR.

2TB is the limit for older systems.  You can use a larger drive with a driver for storage but not to boot from.

$$$$ is the other limiting factor.  Large Mechanical drives use more power and cost more.  4TB 2.5 inch SSD's are $1000.

The AREA 51 has 2X 2.5 inch bays

as well as 3X    3.5 inch bays.

64 bit windows is required.

GPT partition is required.

Other than that there are no issues.

Seagate uses DISK wizard to address this.

Operating System BIOS Boot Disk Data Disk

Windows Vista and newer UEFI BIOS Supported by Windows 64 bit only Supported by Windows
