Area-51 R3, CPU, GPU, upgrade, #2

I bought a R3 years back and left it in storage for a while until recently and I was looking to upgrade my machine to keep up with today's games. I seem to be unfamiliar with hardware nowadays being busy with life and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.
