Aurora R8, freezing 3-5 seconds for months randomly
So i've just about given up and i don't know where to turn i bought an Aurora Tower in dec 2018 and the pc has these random lag/freezes for about 3-5 seconds and the audio goes robotic and slow motion while i'm watching youtube or basic websurfing and i've noticed other posts on here recently with the same issue. I've called tech support and they had me reinstall windows and my pc just did it again for a few seconds although this time i could move my mouse. I have a the following specs 128gig m.2 that's where windows is installed and all my games are on a 2 tb HDD i've only had it happen a few times while gaming it's mostly while basic web surfing
RTX 2070
i7 9700k, 16gb 1666mhz are my specs please any help would be appreciated
my issue is the same as https://www.dell.com/community/XPS-Desktops/XPS-8930-constant-freeze/m-p/7252636#M22751 but i'm hard wired.
Also same as https://www.dell.com/community/XPS-Desktops/XPS-8930-freezes-for-3-5-seconds/td-p/7346463

I suspect when they figure out what is causing the 8930 freezing it will also relate to other PC's.
Almost impossible to try and remote troubleshoot or offer suggestions.

so to tell this story tell all things that freeze not just one, online and offline. all things.
the freeze lasts for how long.? 1/10 of second , 10 seconds, what?
it will never happen just doing desktop things? not online, or only happens online only.?
if only ON line then the web connections are bad, nothing magic there and common, the www does slow down.
if online my guess you use funkly wifi? if yes, try Ethernet next? use A wired Cat5/6 cable from PC to your router directly , better now.? SURE.
when the PC freezes, does the control + alt + Del key go dead, if yes the OS is corrupted in some way.
if not LOCKED THAT WAY, then your problem has noting to do with the OTHERS postS just below yours called FREEZE. THEY LOCKUP AT TASKMANAGER.
you click those 3 keys at once and click taskmanager, and see if CPU is overloaded? or memory overloaded?
does only ONE browser go slow only?, did you try firefox v69+ yet?
did you run online speed tests, (google that phrase, 1st hit do that)
can you play those games in single player mode does it run fast and not freeze.
FREEZE fixes and tests here.
is the PC overheating, do you run GPU/CPU temperature monitor on the desktop all the time, you should if any PC freezes.
Is your room temp, 96F + , if yes all PC overheat, I cant know where you PC is ,seen them in closets and worse.

I had the same problems described and in fact, spoke about it in the 8930 thread. I did manage to solve the "micro-freeze" issue though by the following:
1. Replaced OEM RAM with 2x 16GB sticks of HyperX 2933
2. Replaced Toshiba NVMe with ADATA SX8200 Pro
3. Reinstalled Windows 10 Pro
Now I can't be certain which of the above three actions solved the problem, or perhaps it was a combination of some or all three, but I can attest to having a freeze-free R7 now. Personally, I think it had something to do with the Intel RAID drivers being on and active as shipped from the factory. I think there was something going on with those drivers, BIOS RAID being enabled, and the Toshiba drive.
To the OP: when you reinstalled Windows, did you take note of what your drive settings in BIOS were? Did you have RAID turned on or did you select AHCI? If you left RAID on, I would suggest reinstalling Windows again but this time with AHCI selected. That way, you won't need to install the additional Intel drivers.

Clean install fix here by @rjbards using W10 generic drivers from 1903 ISO, no Dell software or drivers.
List of his drivers.
No Killer Software Center
No Intel RST
Generic drivers as installed by W10 only which appear to be latest drivers.
You do have the Dell AWCC software for monitoring.
Per @amstel78 change to a non-RAID setup, and change setting in BIOS to AHCI when you do the suggested clean install

I 100% think it has to do with IRST cause I called once months ago and they reinstalled the IRST and the problem went away for months until I had a new windows update. I'm gonna do more testing tonight after work and if it happens again I'm gonna reinstall windows and try the achi without raid like suggested with no IRST

Were you able to resolve this with the IRST Drivers? I'm having the exact same issue on my Aurora R7 from April 2018, already replaced Video card and Power supply and have done clean installs.

Clean Installing Windows 10 1909 as we speak. Changed from Raid On to AHCI and will not be installing IRST! Luckily I'm running on a Toshiba M.2 and do not have optane.

So, you set BIOS to AHCI, clean-install Windows-10, (and then never install Intel-RST ... as it is un-needed and un-wanted).
How can Intel-RST be a problem if it is not installed?
You didn't get stuck with an
OptaneOplame system did you ?Tesla1856

Sounds like a good plan.
Yeah, keep it lean and see how it runs for a week or so:

I had the same problem on my Alienware laptop and worked with Dell support for months. They even replaced the motherboard, RAM, and SSD.
In the end, what solved it for me was uninstalling all of the Dell and Alienware software. I am pretty sure the culprit was something called "Dell SupportAssist Remediation" but I just uninstalled it all and never reinstalled any of it to see which program it was. I also uninstalled some of the Killer Networking management software which was causing network issues -- haven't had a network issue since.

I have changed ram, clean windows without any dell products, and ahci in bios. None of these works. Dell made a such terrible product and still ask us to pay this overpriced product.

I suspect this is a RAM issue.
When you said you changed the ram are they a matched pair?
Are they XMP?
Try the following
Insert one RAM module in the white slot closet to the PC base.
Disable XMP if enabled Its under performance settings

I'm just going to put this out into this discussion regarding the micro-freezing for a few seconds once every hour or so of use..
I believe I've found that if I turn off "Hardware Acceleration" in Google Chrome - which I'm running for hours at a time - the problem goes away completely.
What I can't reconcile is that I've had the micro-freeze even when Chrome is not running (foreground or background). I'm sure I used it not long before the micro-freeze, but I noted recently that I had a little freeze when Chrome wasn't running.
Since disabling Hardware Acceleration in Chrome I have not had a single freeze.
[The problem with disabling H.A. is that Google Maps then doesn't work right.. but I can toggle it on to use Maps]
Finally, FYI I have the Nvidia GeForce RTX2080Ti display adapter (the native Intel adapter disabled), and I'm running the Windows-provided 26.21.14.4223 version of the Nvidia drivers.

(the native Intel adapter disabled),
====================
No, the Intel GPU should NOT be disabled.
